What does the Private Sector Group (PSG) do for the SASP PSG members?

COMMITTEES and GROUPS
The PSG is represented on the following committees:
The SASP NEC / Policy Committee / PPPRC / PDP Coding Committee / Financial Committee / PDP New Coding Structure Committee / PDP New Coding Structure Core Group / Communications & Marketing Committee / Universal Health Coverage Committee / Centenary Celebrations Committee / Centenary Celebrations Core Committee / IPPTA Hosting Committee.

The PSG is represented in the following external groups:
Private Healthcare Information Standards Committee (PHISC)
International Private Physiotherapy Association (IPPTA)

CODING and QUERIES
The PSG receives and answers a constant flow of queries, including but not limited to those about coding, the Discovery Health Spinal Programme, and GEMS authorisations (If unresolved, the PSG Liaison Officer (LO) escalates on behalf of the member).

NEW CODING STRUCTURE
The Core Coding Committee has in collaboration with Dr Warrick Sieve submitted a poster on the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI) and the compatibility of it for physiotherapy in the South African context for the World Health Organisation - Family of International Classifications Network  (WHO-FIC) meeting in Rwanda in September 2024.

MEDICAL SCHEMES AND OTHER
No meetings were held with a medical scheme in the past month, but the Pulmonary Rehabilitation proposal, Mental Health, and the SASP Back and Neck proposal were submitted to Medihelp and Profmed.

COID
The Compensation Fund’s (CF) first workshop was held in Mbombela for Medical Service Providers (MSP). At these workshops MSPs can discuss the problems with the CompEasy system and the CF representative will attempt to resolve the issues. The workshop is followed by a dinner and presentations. 

WEBINARS/COURSES
PSG hosted an Rand Mutual Assurance (RMA) webinar in August 2024. RMA explained their new forms (assessments and follow-up reports) and utilisation of their portal. 

COFFEE WITH PSG
The monthly Coffee with PSG was held on 5 Aug 2024. Outcome measures were discussed, and the 5-minute sit-stand was demonstrated and explained.
The September Coffee with PSG will be in person at the Congress. The purpose is to engage with our members and for them to network with each other. GEMS are invited to address our members for 10 minutes. Two outcome measures will be done practically.  

MARKETING/ EVENTS  
The Strava Club (active@saphysio.co.za) was created as a marketing tool to create future challenges and events.
The PSG GEC hosted a “PSG Coffee & Walk’ on Spring Day, in Parkhurst, to kick off National PhysioWeek and the ‘Put Physio on the Map’ initiative. PSG also celebrated the SASP Centenary at the event.

CMS CLINICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The PSG LO has been selected to serve on the Council for Medical Schemes(CMS) Clinical Advisory Committee for PMBs. She will be part of the sub-group for Cardiac Arrest & Hypertension (CAC).
The sub-groups will be meeting once per month. The purpose of the committee is to revise the current guidelines for PMBs. 

GENIE HEALTH DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
NEC has agreed to a collaboration with Genie Health. The Digital Transformation Advisory Committee (D-TAC) was established.
The role of the committee is to guide digital transformation in physiotherapy in a proactive manner.
