The SASP Symposium 2026 brings together leading physiotherapists, academics, and healthcare decision-makers to explore the future of the profession.

This year’s theme, “Taking Physiotherapy into the Future”, is reflected in a forward-looking programme that addresses key developments in healthcare — including artificial intelligence, ethics, policy, education, and clinical excellence.
The Symposium provides a unique platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and engagement across the profession.

Youth Indaba
Paths, Purpose and Possibility: Making Your Mark – Impact, Influence and Income
Designed for students, community service physiotherapists and early-career professionals, the Youth Indaba explores the realities of building a successful and meaningful career in physiotherapy. Through inspiring keynote presentations, panel discussions and facilitated networking, delegates will gain practical career guidance, leadership insights, mentorship opportunities and exposure to diverse career pathways. This interactive workshop aims to equip the next generation of physiotherapists with the confidence, connections and tools to make their mark in the profession.

Future Practice Forum
Pain, Movement, Pelvic Health & Performance: A Modern Physio's Approach for South Africa
Presented in collaboration by multiple SASP Special Interest Groups, the Future Practice Forum explores contemporary approaches to pain, movement, pelvic health and performance. Combining the latest evidence, practical clinical skills, case-based discussions and rehabilitation strategies, this workshop promotes an integrated, whole-person approach to physiotherapy. Delegates will gain practical insights into assessment, treatment, behaviour change, exercise prescription and clinician wellbeing, while exploring the future of evidence-informed physiotherapy practice in South Africa.

Forensic Audit Summit
Fraud, Waste, Abuse & Error: Clinical Governance in Modern Healthcare
The Forensic Audit Summit provides physiotherapists with practical guidance on navigating the increasingly complex healthcare funding and regulatory environment. Bringing together medical schemes, regulatory bodies and industry experts, the workshop will explore audit processes, coding integrity, documentation standards, professional accountability, compliance requirements and ethical practice. Designed to support practitioners rather than penalise them, the session aims to build confidence, reduce risk and strengthen clinical governance within modern physiotherapy practice.
